Yeah, I've been having a problem with Steam lately.... After they decided to give us that new interface, my client won't load. It keeps giving me this error: "Fatal Error: Failed to load platform modules" Now look, I DID look at their support page for help. I did the thing with the task manager... I went into regedit. But, it just... won't... work! I restarted, then nothing. (Nothing would show but the message after login) If anyone has any idea how to fix this, BESIDES uninstalling and putting Steam back on, I would appreciate the help.
Since the steam update my computer that is hosting my server which is windows 7. Steam will popup saying some message i forget the message but either hit offline mode or cancel but anyways steam works fine in safe mode but once taken off safe mode it doesn't work. I have 3 other computers in the house running steam but they're not windows 7 and had no issues with the update. I tried from reinstalling steam to replacing files to erasing it totally wiping the registry and still it only would work in safe mode.
I RUN STEAM.. NORMALY.. EVERYTHING WORKS FINE.. I HATE HTE NEW INTERFACE IT SUCKS ***** + i noticed a server i used to go in some other game is now down since steam new update :S they cant get it to work any more strange... *starts giving away torches and pitch forks* LETS START A RIOT!!!!!
Hey! I got Steam to work! I deleted my client registry then it magically decided to work. I have to agree with you... The new UI is awful. What's new isn't always better.
It's not bad for me, I guess because I used it since it was first in beta and I got used to it, so when they forced it on people I did not even notice.
I haven't gotten a taste of the new UI since my computer went and shit itself. I wish I could install it on my flash drive, but apparently that won't work either since it needs a valid hard drive for an install. It may be another 3 months before I can see the new Steam UI.
I'm running steam off an external harddrive just fine - loading speeds are just a tad slower than usual due to the limited bandwith you get on USB connections.
